Together We Win

My name is Sharon El-Amin, and I’m running for Hennepin County Commissioner in District 2 because in order to reach brighter days ahead, we need leadership who won’t fall behind. North Minneapolis has been my home for over 30 years. It’s where I raised my children, built a small business, and learned what it means to be active in community. I’m running because, for too long, I’ve felt the gap between what District 2 needs and what we’ve been getting. I’ve seen a lack of engagement lead to financial crises in our hospitals, and I feel the lack of urgency when our commissioners give themselves 19 weeks off in a year, while our families are working overtime just to get by. I’ve spent my career serving my community, whether advocating for tough but necessary changes in our schools, or organizing food access for our homebound neighbors. As your commissioner, I’ll focus on making changes you can see and feel, not just hear about. That means housing stability, strong schools and investment in our youth, accountable public safety, economic opportunity for working families, and responsible, transparent use of taxpayer dollars. District 2 deserves representation that works just as hard as they do; I am ready to fill that need.
